Lilan Yang is an artist, cinéphile, and flâneuse whose practice involves both digital and analog media such as computing, data visualization, machine learning, photography, and filmmaking. She builds interfaces that trace film locations and cinematic movements on Google Maps and trained GAN models based on user shared images to (re)construct a reality seen by computers. She holds a BS in Computer Engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Currently, she is living with a puppy called Ollie and working towards an MFA in Digital + Media at Rhode Island School of Design.
